Good point Betsy, and although it is “Top 50” the author(s) has to know GSPA is not like a top 50 in a centralized metro. Loyalty to the city of origin - in this case SPA - is very strong but a knife that cuts both ways. You cover too much of the rest of your market and they feel cheated. Double down on Greenville or Spartanburg or Asheville (WLOS) and you’re not really serving your viewers. It’s always been a tough market to resource and most of the stations have tried and backed away from bureaus in the past. I don’t wish ill, but I am not sure the Miami or Indianapolis - “local, local, local” miracle is going to work here, especially with more news-CASTS but really not much more NEWS.

We never really got an answer to "what if it's the best thing that happens to a station?" Got a lot of history on small markets but no definitive next steps that stations are/should be taking.
