And now, some shameless self-promotion
A brief note to make you aware that our editor of TVND.com, Kirk Varner, appears this week on Tim Hanlon’s excellent “In the Vicinity” podcast. The weekly podcast explores “the future of local media, advertising, and broadcast technology.”
This particular episode was recorded in the hours just after last week’s major decision by the Federal Communications Commission that we detailed here in yesterday’s edition of “The Topline.”
The conversation was focused on the reality of where the business of local television, and specifically local TV news, is headed. It runs just under 45 minutes, and there are none of the usually annoying pitches for those various internet advertisers that you may love or loathe.
The “In The Vicinity” podcast is available on all the major platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

It might be a nice break from your marathon of true crime podcasts. We’ll be back here with another text-based dispatch later this week.
